Let's talk about TTK (time to kill). In BF4 it's very low! This means that you have little to no time to react to someone shooting you. This leads to a very conservative (careful) playstyle and much less run-and-gun gameplay. I think this one thing is the cause of a lot of the frustration with BF4's gunplay and I believe that's it's significantly different from other games with a higher TTK (basically any other tactical shooter that's not like ARMA).

Takeaways:
* When the netcode update rate goes from 10 to 30, the TTK (time to kill) goes down, possibly due to better hitreg or player feedback
* DICE wants to make the TTK higher to make fights last longer and give players time to react
* To compensate for the higher update rate and to increase the TTK they are considering changes to the damage model for guns (reducing damage basically)
* DICE wants players to play less defensively (less emphasis on the careful playstyle) |
