I've had some pretty awesome obliteration rounds on Lumpy. Conquest isn't bad.
I'll admit there's a balance problem in terms of map layout. From the bridge they have a clear line of fire right into the administrative building/spawn area. Complete concealment along the pumping station wall to the edge of the base.
Facing the other side you have no where near the same amount of open shooting gallery.
That being said, a discussion of proper tactics for the map would probably help. I've been on the stomping team from both sides of the map in CTF. _________________ [MTL]Mortis - "No one says you have to fight a war with your pants on..."

Line of sight is the issue. All that sniping. Story time!
Last night myself and dst were playing this map on Obliteration. Naturally there are tons of snipers on the bridge and at the train station. So I do the only thing I can do, which is airburst them and try to clean them out. For the first half of the round we kept going after the train station, ignoring the objective, just to clean out the area to stop from getting sniped.
We eventually succeed, and then run with the team to the other side of the map where the big wall is (the only place you can avoid the snipers). We're carrying the bomb with at least three other squads, so things are looking good.
We turn the corner past the wall to the bomb site, and the whole team gets sniped. I got sniped twice in seconds right around the corner by the same guy after getting rezzed.
I don't know what tactics will fix this map considering I did the "right thing" to combat the snipers in my little story. This map came up twice within an hour yesterday and killed my interest in playing the game. |

I agree the map devolves into a sniper fest. I don't mind a map that has a platform for snipers. Most maps this only allows the snipers to cover one lane. But Lumpy allows them to cover damn near the entire map. Not cool.
I think Lumpy in Chainlink format works well as the flow of the game runs the long axis of the tracks making snipers less effective. So, Conquest, Obliteration, and CTF all flow perpendicular to the tracks allowing more campers up there.
Below is the current map list with Lumpy CQ, Ob, and CTF maps removed. What maps should we use to replace them?

The CTF for shrunken dragon is interesting...the flags are out in the open...but as with all shrunken dragon the main building is Sniper HQ. |

Sunken dragon sucks balls for the guys with the flag right by the water.
For Lumpy, snipers can actually be handled by support equipped with 4x scopes handily. The two spots to do this from are the top of the building or from the terrace of the cafe building. The main problem I found was being surrounded so while you're dealing with the left flank you're getting hosed down from the other sides. The detriment obviously is that they have spawn beacons. It doesn't help that main base spawn is across the water in the back. Whomever put it there is an absolute idiot.
The garden side doesn't really have this problem due to the amount of random cover and terrain. You can also swing out far left or right to avoid infanty mass.
If it becomes a real problem, or is already, maybe sub out that map for another classic one...like... Metro... _________________ [MTL]Mortis - "No one says you have to fight a war with your pants on..."

We don't have to use a Dragon's Teeth map. We can put anything else in. Also, any game mode. With the maplist, I'm trying to avoid having the same map or same game mode back to back. |

Pretty sure you can't run obliteration on Metro, or ctf on Oman.
Firestorm is coolish.
Oman is cool in general.
Metro/locker is always cool.

How much is NT paying you to suggest Metro?
In all seriously, I'd love to try CTF on Oman. It may fail miserably but it sounds fun.

Alright, we played OB Metro. We need to keep an eye on this one. It takes place outside near the water. It was interesting and fun but worry this too will devolve into a sniperfest of epic proportions. |
