At this point, should we perhaps change the title of this thread? |

I would just hate to have someone Google search this guy and find their way to our forums where we have a thread with a title that our hopes and prayers are with a murderer. |

I have no objection to the thread subject being changed. However, I don't know how to change a thread subject. |

Maybe Butter can change it in the database.
Feel free to cull it down to:

I can edit thread titles in my sleep. And in this case, I think that happened. _________________ EDT sucks. |

I guess that is the end of that then.
From a friendly community member whom we all have shared many an hour with.
To a Man who murdered his parents then burned the house down to try and cover it up, and will now spend the rest of his life behind bars.
It goes to show how easily people can choose the wrong path in life. I beg anyone reading this, if they are having any troubles in life they feel they cant cope with, there is always somebody out there to help you, no matter what.
Be safe people, share the good times in life with the people you love. But don't forget to share the bad times too.
Peace.

Sadly Dan, in America, it's never the end. There will be years of appeals and challenges. |

In most cases I'd agree with you Joe, but in this case I don't think groo has any grounds on which to appeal. He plead guilty in a plea bargain. The judge even asked him, point blank, "are you pleading guilty because you are guilty?" and he answered "yes, your honor." Loud and clear in open court. It's difficult to appeal that.

And, Dan, as much as I applaud your sentiment, and, as much as I have personally enjoyed your support, and, as much as I don't want to hijack my own thread into a nature vs. nurture debate, I have to say, in my experience, I fine that people as far off base as groo, were born unsalvageable. |

I know it's not very reasonable at an intellectual level, but I share Joe's pessimism. It seems like the assholes in the world always manage to find a way. |

Manchester police officers honored for work
Awards given for saving lives, cracking big cases
Published 6:48 PM EDT Apr 04, 2016
...
Some of the officers were rewarded for their work in major cases, such as the capture of murder suspect Matthew Dion.
"Just knowing he was in custody was an extreme relief for me," Lt. Joe Mucci said. "And to know it would bring closure for the Dion family was very important."
Dion was suspected of strangling his parents and setting their home on fire in 2014. He was on the run for more than a year before he was arrested, and Mucci and Houghton worked together to interview him. They ultimately got a confession that elevated the charges to first-degree murder.
